Instagram Suggests Band Creed to Oklahoma City Users in Reported Error

Oklahoma City, OK, October 10, 2026 —

Users in Oklahoma City reported receiving unexpected recommendations from Instagram, specifically suggesting the popular 1990s rock band Creed. The instances of this seemingly erroneous suggestion were noted by local users of the social media platform.

Details regarding the exact nature or cause of the alleged error have not been provided. It remains unclear whether the issue affected a broad segment of Instagram users in the area or a specific subset. The timeline for when these suggestions began appearing or how long they persisted was also not specified.

Instagram, owned by Meta Platforms, Inc., utilizes algorithms to personalize user feeds and suggest content, including accounts to follow. These algorithms are designed to learn user preferences based on engagement patterns, such as likes, follows, and viewed content. However, such systems can sometimes produce unexpected or inaccurate recommendations.

The band Creed, known for hits like “Higher” and “With Arms Wide Open,” achieved significant commercial success in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The nature of the error suggests a potential misinterpretation or malfunction within Instagram’s recommendation engine, leading to an unusual pairing of the platform’s sophisticated suggestion technology with a specific musical act for users in Oklahoma City.

Representatives for Instagram or Meta Platforms have not publicly commented on the reported suggestions. Information regarding any internal investigation or correction by the platform regarding this particular instance was not available.

Further details about the scope of the error, the specific trigger, or any user feedback mechanisms related to these suggestions were not disclosed by those reporting the trend.
