An anonymous donor established the Aldielawn Fund to fully cover FOHA’s Senior Care Plan, helping senior dogs find homes by covering adoption fees and care.
We are profoundly grateful for this quiet act of kindness. The Aldielawn Fund ensures that cost never stands between a senior dog and a soft couch to spend their golden years on.”
ALDIE, VA, UNITED STATES, November 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) announced the creation of the Aldielawn Fund, established in honor of an anonymous donor who has stepped forward to cover the full cost of FOHA’s Senior Care Plan for this fiscal year (July 26-June 27). The gift ensures that the program, which helps dogs ages 8 and older find permanent homes, will continue without interruption.
For more than five years, FOHA’s Senior Care Plan was supported by grant funding from The Grey Muzzle Organization, a national nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk senior dogs. Despite applying again this year, FOHA was not selected to receive funding. Soon after, an anonymous donor offered to cover the program’s expenses in full. FOHA named the new Aldielawn Fund in recognition of the gift and plans to reapply to The Grey Muzzle Organization next year.
“We are profoundly grateful for this quiet act of kindness,” said Alison Maurhoff, Executive Director of Friends of Homeless Animals. “The Aldielawn Fund ensures that cost never stands between a senior dog and a soft couch to spend their golden years on.”
About the Senior Care Plan
FOHA launched the Senior Care Plan in 2018 to encourage the adoption of older dogs, who often wait longer for homes because of concerns about age-related medical costs. Through the program, adoption fees are waived for dogs 8 years and older, and adopters can be reimbursed for up to $1,500 in approved medical expenses.
The Aldielawn Fund name will now appear on FOHA’s website and on the adoption profiles of eligible senior dogs. One of them is Echo, a 10-year-old, 82-pound shepherd mix who loves car rides, couches, and an oversized ball. His care at FOHA is supported by a grant from the Aldielawn Fund.
How the public can help
Community members can support FOHA’s senior dogs by adopting, fostering, volunteering, donating, or sharing senior dogs’ adoption profiles. Available dogs, including Echo, can be viewed at foha.org.
