At 103 years young, Gloria O. continues to light up The Hamlet with her infectious laughter, sharp wit, and vibrant personality. Born in the Bronx in 1923, Gloria pursued her dreams in the performing arts, appearing in Off-Broadway productions and Summer Stock theater alongside actress Kim Hunter. Beyond the stage, she devoted herself to raising her daughter, Lori, while pursuing passions for photography, poetry, dancing, and advocacy. A beloved member of The Hamlet community, Gloria continues to share her love of music and storytelling with those around her. Her advice for a long and happy life is simple: “Dancing and exercising are key… Love your family, and they will love you back.”

Celebrating her 101st birthday, Concetta M. has lived a beautiful life centered around family, happiness, and appreciating life’s simple pleasures. Although born in the United States, Concetta moved to Sicily at just two years old, where she grew up, attended school, and later worked as a seamstress. After marrying her husband, Salvatore, the couple eventually moved to New York City and built a loving family that includes two children and four grandchildren. Having also lived in Shirley and Medford, Concetta has always treasured family gatherings, celebrations, and spending quality time with loved ones. Her secret to longevity reflects her positive outlook on life: enjoy nature, be happy, and stay healthy.

Rounding out these extraordinary celebrations is Sally D., who reached her 100th birthday, becoming the first member of her family to achieve this milestone. Raised in Hollis, Queens, Sally attended Andrew Jackson High School and worked as a secretary before dedicating herself to raising her five children. Her beautiful love story began when she met her future husband while he was working at a grocery store. When he later joined the Navy, Sally promised to wait for him, and their relationship grew through letters and visits during his four years overseas. Together, they built a family that now includes 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Sally enjoyed crocheting, volunteering with the USO, traveling, and creating cherished family memories during annual vacations to Gilbert Lake State Park. Her family describes her as a loving and devoted wife and mother whose life reflects the importance of family, commitment, and meaningful connections.
