MCRI Group invites state, county and municipal roadway teams to discuss
potential applications, development priorities and field-testing opportunities.

Our goal is to continue developing RMV alongside the people responsible for maintaining roads and better understand where robotics can provide the greatest safety and operational value.”

— Scott Lang, President and CEO of MCRI Group

FREMONT, OH, UNITED STATES, August 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — MCRI Group has assumed ownership of RMV Technologies, Inc. (RMV), a company developing technology designed to automate roadway maintenance and preservation activities while reducing worker exposure to active traffic.

RMV combines a six-axis industrial robot with vision, controls, and application-specific equipment mounted on a truck or other mobile platform. The platform is designed to automate roadway maintenance tasks while reducing the need for workers to perform those tasks in active traffic areas. U.S. Patents 11,795,637 and 12,618,206, titled Robotic Maintenance Vehicle and Modules, cover the RMV platform and modular roadway-maintenance applications.

Two applications under continued development are the Robotic Crack Sealer and Robotic Cone Picker. The Robotic Crack Sealer combines a FANUC six-axis robot, vision technology, crack preparation, and sealant application to identify and seal pavement cracks while moving the primary operator from the roadway into the vehicle cab. The Robotic Cone Picker uses the RMV platform for automated traffic-cone placement and retrieval, reducing the need for workers to manually place or collect cones alongside moving traffic.

“Road maintenance crews perform difficult work in constantly changing conditions,” said Scott Lang, President and CEO of MCRI Group. “Our goal is to continue developing RMV alongside the people responsible for maintaining roads and better understand where robotics can provide the greatest safety and operational value.”

MCRI Group is interested in speaking with state departments of transportation, county engineers, municipal public works departments, airports, toll-road operators, and experienced roadway contractors about crack sealing, traffic-cone handling, worker-safety concerns, and potential field demonstrations or pilot projects.

Through Motion Controls Robotics, MCRI Group brings more than 30 years of robotic integration experience, along with in-house mechanical, electrical, controls, programming, machine vision, and service capabilities to the continued development of RMV.

Roadway maintenance organizations interested in exploring RMV applications, including the Robotic Crack Sealer, Robotic Cone Picker, and future roadway-maintenance uses, can contact MCRI Group (mcri-group.com) or visit the RMV website (https://rmv.llc/).
